If you are bored with the same old dinners every night at home, then why not try some new food recipes. To give you some food for thought – pardon the pun – have a read of some of the ideas I gathered from a quick survey of my friends:

Winter warmers. For traditional kitchens there is nothing that says home-made more than a short crust pastry pie. Steak and kidney or chicken and mushroom – whatever takes your fancy.
Fishy dishy. Give kedgeree a go: quick to make with smoked fish, rice and eggs it is a great mid-week option and the leftovers are perfect for breakfast the day after.
Classic tomato sauce. Not the kind which comes in a bottle! Make a basic sauce and use it on pizza bases, with pasta or even in a chilli con carne to get great value for effort.
Learn to make risotto. People can be put off by risotto as it as perceived as being difficult to get right. In reality it is more that you have to keep an eye on it and stir constantly rather than there being anything highly technical to worry about. Give it a go, you might surprise yourself.
Lean on your gadgets. If that newly installed kitchen from http://wrenkitchens.com has a steam oven and a high speed grill or you’ve bought a slow cooker then take them on their maiden voyage and try a new way to cook.
Travel the world. Inspire your kids with recipes from far flung places. Get them to choose a country, research the cuisine and then help to prepare the dish. Brilliant fun and educational too!
Make something up! Eaten it in a restaurant or at a friend’s house? Be a bit adventurous and try to recreate a favourite from memory.

The traditional British barbecue is an ideal way to make the most of the sunshine whilst having some quality family time and catching up with friends at the same time. Traditional barbecue food is varied and delicious and there should be something to please everyone. Top of the list of course is the ever-reliable burger. As well as the staples of burgers and bangers, fish is a top choice for the barbecue. Stuffed with herbs, lemon and butter then wrapped in foil, fish can be cooked slowly on the barbecue to create a wonderfully tasty, smoky fish dish. You can also channel the Aussies and throw a shrimp or two on the Barbie, or perhaps just a prawn kebab.

And of course, don’t forget all those essential extras that really make a barbecue a success. Plenty of salad, some dips and crisps and of course, lots of beer to keep you refreshed and your guests entertained!
