Traditional barbecue food (even fish)

Those long summer days mean one thing to a lot of people; time to crack open the barbecue and enjoy the sunshine with friends and family! The traditional British barbecue is an ideal way to make the most of the sunshine whilst having some quality family time and catching up with friends at the same time. If you haven’t got a barbecue or are in need of a new one, take advantage of the cheap barbecues available from stockists like Weberbbq.co.uk now and start planning your barbecue menu!

Traditional barbecue food is varied and delicious and there should be something to please everyone. Top of the list of course is the ever-reliable burger. Whether it’s a good old British beef burger, a tender lamb and mint burger or a spicy bean burger, there’s nothing quite like the smell of one cooking on the barbecue to get mouths watering. Make sure you have all of the other staples to make your perfect BBQ burger, such as bread buns, cheese slices, burger relish, tomato sauce and mayonnaise.

Another firm favourite for barbecue fans is of course sausages! Pork, lamb or veggie, sausages taste great barbecued and served in a hot dog bun with some spicy relish or English mustard.

As well as the staples of burgers and bangers, fish is a top choice for the barbecue. Stuffed with herbs, lemon and butter then wrapped in foil, fish can be cooked slowly on the barbecue to create a wonderfully tasty, smoky fish dish. You can also channel the Aussies and throw a shrimp or two on the Barbie, or perhaps just a prawn kebab.

And of course, don’t forget all those essential extras that really make a barbecue a success. Plenty of salad, some dips and crisps and of course, lots of beer to keep you refreshed and your guests entertained!

Keta Salmon on the West Coast

Chum salmon have a broader spawning distribution than any other species of Pacific salmon.  Traditionally , bud salmon were distributed across the coastal regions of western Canada and the U. S.

California salmon have been noted as far south as the San Lorenzo Brook in Monterey Bay, with sea catches as far south as Del Mar. One or two spawning runs still happen in some of the tributaries of the Sacramento and Klamath brooks. Presently, major spawning populations are found only as far south as Tillamook Bay on the northwards Oregon coast. Periodically, mate salmon will show up in streams further south along the Oregon and California coasts with few, if any, known pal salmon spawning grounds in streams close by. They either stray hundreds of miles from the closest spawning areas in some years, or they maintain populations in areas along these coasts that’ve been poorly surveyed. Chum Salmon and Dog Salmon Are Also Known Names Keta Salmon belong to the family Salmonidae.

It is more typically known as friend or dog salmon and is among the 8 species of Pacific salmonids in the genus Oncorhynchus. The systematic name keta comes from the Nanai folks, who live close to the Amur River along the border of China and the Russian Federation. Keta in their language interprets to the fish. The species is perhaps most well-known for its unique breeding coloration and spawning morphology. Chum salmon have been documented to spawn from Korea and the Japanese island of Honshu, east, around the edge of the North Pacific Ocean to southern California.

What is Keta Salmon?

Outline : Keta Salmon have greenish-blue backs with silver splashes in the tail. It seems very like a Sockeye when sea fresh. Keta range all the way from 6-17 pounds and are mature at 3-6 years of age. The Keta salmon has extraordinarily light coloured flesh and is extraordinarily mild in flavor. Life Cycle : there are a few stages to the life cycle of an Alaska Salmon, eggs- alevins-fry-smolt-adult-spawning adult. An adult salmon deposits her eggs in gravel beds ( also called redds ) in freshwater streams and rivers.

Once the eggs have been fertilized by the male salmon the embryos will incubate over the winter months and then hatch into alevins in late winter. In the alevins part of life the salmon take on a unusual appearance having giant eyes, a ballooning orange sack and pencil like body. Roughly four months after becoming an alevin the young salmon changes into a fry. A salmon fry averages one in. in length, has a lengthened body and is free swimming. A just appeared buddy smolt migrates immediately to the sea not like the King salmon, Coho and the Sockeye who spend 1-2 years in water.

A fry blossoms into a smolt when it is prepared to go to the sea were it’ll stay for 3-5 years before maturing into an adult salmon.

The mature male and female salmon will start its journey back to its place of origin were the female will deposit her bounty of eggs and the male will fertilize the eggs and then both will die, continuing the salmon life cycle. Keta Salmon gets the name dog salmon partly due to its many sharp and large teeth and due to the hook nose of the male salmon. Run Times : Buddy salmon runs are often seen in south central Alaska beginning in mid June and running thru mid Sep .
